She works tirelessly helping women around the world who have lived through trauma to identify their prisons, break free, and unleash their unique light. A survivor of sexual abuse, Belkis has risen from a place of attempted suicide to success. For more than a decade, she has been captivating, inspiring, motivating and teaching audiences, including survivors of sexual abuse and trauma, how to uncover their truth, identify their innate value and map their purpose as they journey to legendary transformation.
Belkis was born on the island of St. Kitts. Her mother and stepfather moved to St. Maarten in pursuit of a better life for the family. From her grandmother and her parents, she learned values such as hard work, tenacity, resilience, discipline, and commitment. Belkis applied these to her life and eventually attended the University of the Southern Caribbean, graduating summa cum laude and the top student with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in communication. She was offered a full scholarship and went on to get her master’s in Human Communication. On the heels of graduating Valedictorian, Belkis realized that her destiny was to be a speaker and coach, empowering others to become their best selves. She has taught at every level, from Pre-k to University and brings that dedication to the stage and online.
Belkis has spent more than a decade of teaching and coaching suicidal and depressed teens and adults. She has been teaching men and women how to get back on their feet after a divorce, heartbreaks, disappointments and trauma and live an life they are happy to step into every day. Belkis has authored “Girl, You Are Overthinking It!” co-authored “Tying the Knot Between Ministry and the Market Place, (Volume 2), and is about to release “Girl, Go Get That Power!” and “A Village: Destroyed the Caribbean Crisis”. She is an ambassador for Mission 22, a non-profit organization that works in spreading awareness and offering help to lower the rate of suicide among veterans. Her role with the organization lead her to organize a wellness retreat in Corpus Christi Texas, for female veterans and women in the emergency sector.
Her writing and her story has been featured on the international Red Cross website, local media in the Dutch Antilles, Thrive global, Be Your Own, and she has been on several podcasts such Is She’s Making an Impact, The Pitchtank, and The Authentic Courage series, among others.
